One of the best ways to safe guard this investment is to follow the transformer manufacturer’s recommendation to regularly draw oil and gas samples to conduct laboratory testing and analyses. Historically, the transformer manufacturers have installed oil and gas sampling devices and gauges inside the transformer enclosure compartment. However, with the increased awareness of arc flash dangers and changes in the NFPA 70E standards, the need for unwanted and costly power outages may be necessary to gather the samples.
